Subject

Ricarda Schmidt-Scheele’s research areas are socio-technical transformation processes, social sustainability of energy systems and the role of narratives in the context of energy transitions and sustainability. She also focuses on scenario methods, their perception and interpretation through social actors. In her dissertation, she analysed how organisations and political decision-makers assess the plausibility of energy scenarios. Since 2016 she has been a facilitator at the Oxford Scenarios Programme at University of Oxford.

Ricarda Schmidt-Scheele holds a doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) from the University of Stuttgart, Institute for Social Sciences and the Stuttgart Centre for Simulation Science (SimTech). She holds a Master of Science in European Governance (University of Bristol) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hanzehoogeschool Groningen).

Within the CIB-Lab, Ricarda Schmidt-Scheele conducts research on scenarios and foresight in the context of energy system transformation and sustainability. The focus of her work is on methods for the creation, perception and processing of scenarios by social actors. In her dissertation within the IBESSA project, she dealt with epistemological and perception-theoretical perspectives on the plausibility of scenarios, including CIB-based scenarios. Ricarda completed research stays at Arizona State University and Oxford University. Since 2016 she has been involved in the semi-annual “Oxford Scenarios Programme” as a leading facilitator.
